Leg Warmers to good use

Hello there!

Recently the Ladies made a bold move and decided to put up our biggest tag to date. Maybe some of you even hear about it on the news.

LFS made 7 foot by 7 foot leg warmers for our very own alien dancers outside the Denver Convention Center. We decided they needed to bundle up a bit for the winter time.

7 News came along at 3 AM with us as your ladies attempted their most illegal tagging ever.

We just recently heard about what happened to our leg warmers after they were taken down (being up only till 7:45 AM). And we'd really like to share it with you. Check it out!

Here's an email from The Denver Office of Cultural Affairs:

Hello,

I just wanted to let you know how cool I thought the leg warmers were that you all made and put on the Dancing Statues outside of the DCPA! I coordinate homeless outreach efforts for the City of Denver and was contacted by a woman I work with in the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs (DOCA). After the grounds keepers took your leg warmers off of the dancers, they ended up in the DOCA. My colleague was telling me about them and how they didn't know what to do with them and if we had any use for them. I asked one of our women's overnight shelters, The Delores Project, if they could use them as blankets on their beds for the women they serve. They agreed, and when I showed the ED of Delores your art, she absolutely loved it and was so thrilled to be getting these works of art to share with the women.

I know that wasn't your original intent and I'm sorry the art couldn't stay up on the statues longer, but I just wanted to let you know where they ended up. They will be put to good use at the shelter.

Podcasts...the new rage!

The Ladies expanded our technology knowledge and did another interview...Podcast Style!

You heard right, we experienced our very first LIVE podcast, and it was great. Well...we had fun and we think we did great, so hopefully it was great. He he...

Ester, Lucy Lynn and our newest member Evelyn made it all the way over to Arvada to discover a great new yarn shop called Knit Knack.

We missed Jeanne Lois and the rest of our international members, they couldn't make it, but they were in our hearts all night.

We did the podcast interview with this great lady named Marly. Man does she love to craft! And we loved her for it. It had a wonderful chat (our hour long chat) with her about what we Ladies do in Denver, and about crochet in general. It was nice to talk to someone who wanted to talk nerd with us (crafty nerd talk!), instead of talking about cops and trespassing. Thanks Marly.

We really did have a fantastic time with her and found the shop to be just delightful. Even though the store was long closed when we did our interview, leave it to us ladies to find a way to buy yarn. Which we did.

NEW LADY

Yes that's right we have expanded our Fancy Troops here in Denver. We are very excited to announce that we now have a great new lady named Evelyn joining us.

She saw one of our tags here in Denver and tracked us down. Which is very hard to do so, congrats to her! We're happy she did.

She already has a beautiful tag up and her very own page on our website. If you'd like to meet her and see her first tag, check out our "ladies" page.

The Radio Continues

Hello All!

We actually got to speak our piece after the crazy radio press we got. Our very own Ester was able to snag an interview with Alice 1059 and a few fun DJ's who host a great morning show. The interview went great, and Ester had lots of witty things to say. Not to mention all the big words we are proud she used. :)

Radio Waves

Alice 1059, a local Denver radio station, was caught red handed gossiping about us Ladies.

The morning show, "BJ, Howie and Erika" asked the question "What exactly is granny graffiti?"

Seems that one of them picked us up from the weekend Headline News clip. Crazy!

9 News films the Santa Fe hit

Hooray!

Ladies Fancy work is finally famous. :) 9 News tagged along on our last hit to Santa Fe and filmed the very inner workings of LFS.

We had to fashion up some masks so we could conceal our identities while we got our famous on.

Check them out.

Then we ran around Santa Fe putting up tags while towing a camerawoman!! It was great.
You all should check out 9 News this Friday night at 10 PM. Your very own ladies will be on it.
That's Friday April 3rd, 2009 at 10 PM.
We were also interview for the piece in the 9 News studio. It should be a pretty fun!

Crochet for our Troops

Check out what the Ladies of Fancy did on January 23 and 24!
We joined many other knitters and crocheters and made hats for our troops over seas.

We gathered at The Shoppe on Colfax and crocheted away, while eating cupcakes and cereal. You know us ladies can't resist cupcakes!

The table got a little messy, but that was expected.

These were the hats that the girls finished the next day.
We even included our cute labels. We hope the troops love our tags.

We hope your heads stay warm in our hats.

LFS at Knit The Gardens

This is a bit of a make-up post. A few weeks ago, the Ladies Fancywork Society participated in the Denver Botanic Gardens "Knit The Gardens" project where a number of local crafsters converged upon Civic Center park in Denver, CO to install crocheted and knitted artwork. LFS was in full force!
